School Closure

Dear Families, Staff, and Friends of ALCS,

Greetings to you as this dangerous wind event continues. We pray you are staying safe and remaining out of harm's way.

First, thank you for your support as we closed school for today. We made that decision out of an abundance of caution, in order to ensure the safety of our students, as well as staff members. It turns out that was an important decision.

Our campus has suffered damage. Awnings have been destroyed, trees downed, windows broken, outdoor tables twisted, and more. It is the greatest amount of damage experienced by the school since we were founded nearly 45 years ago. The school still does not have power (so our phone and computer systems are down).

As a result, the school and campus will be closed for the remainder of this week. This will hopefully allow for debris removal and sufficient repairs to be made, and for insurance claims to take effect. We anticipate reopening this Monday, January 13. Should that change, we will contact you with details.

If any of our families have any needs that we can help with, our outreach team can help in several ways, including food, groceries, clean-up, picking up prescriptions, and most anything else you may need. To find out how we can help you or others, please contact Ms. Laura Jedlick at [email protected].

We know many of you are asking how you can help. First, your prayers are much appreciated. Second, as soon as we have a better idea of when and how volunteers may safely assist in cleanup and other preparations for school to reopen, we will let you know.

We will address how we will deal with the missed days once the situation is over. Academically, we have already built margin into our calendar, which will help.

Thank you for your patience and support as we deal with this unprecedented event in the life of our school. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure the safety of our children and all those on campus at all times. Please remain in prayer for ALCS, one another, our community, and our first responders throughout the region, and please stay safe.

We will continue to keep you informed.
