Operation Christmas Child 2017

Alta Loma Christian School is blessed to be able to partner with Solid Ground Church and Samaritan’s Purse every year and participate in Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC has grown tremendously over the last 20 years as one of Samaritan’s Purse’s largest ministries, delivering shoe boxes filled with toys, goods, and the Gospel to millions of children around the world. A simple shoe box filled with things like toys, clothes, and school supplies, can bring endless joy to a child in need, along with a message of eternal salvation that may otherwise never be heard.

This year, ALCS and Solid Ground church have set a goal of collecting 425 boxes by November 8. The 8th grade class will also visit a packing center in December to help other volunteers pack collected boxes and prep them for shipment around the world.

A few helpful tips for packing boxes this year:

  • Toothpaste is no longer permitted, as some children are not sure what it’s used for and decide to eat it.
  • Please do not send food OR candy items.
  • The three most popular gifts for children are toothbrushes, washcloths, and pencils (depending on the country, children may not be permitted to school if they don’t provide their own pencils).
  • This year, a generous school family has decided to provided free OCC shoeboxes for our students to make the packing process that much simpler! Stop by the office anytime if you need an additional box and packing slip.
